Depends: In general, gabapentin is less likely to be associated with dependency. However, there are a number of reports that have indicated that there is potential for abuse, particularly based on use for either withdrawal from other substances (e.g. alcohol) or other non-FDA approved indications. Please talk to your doctor about these concerns and follow up.
