Is it possible that i have tonsillitis while taking antibiotics for strep? my tonsil started swelling on one side and painful swallowing

Dr. can recheck: A throat that is painful and swelling on one side needs medical attention. Whether such a patient can drive to the doctor's office, or should be driven by a friend or relative, depends on the severity of symptoms. Possible causes include strep throat with a very swollen tonsil, or a growing tonsillar abscess that the antibiotics so far is not controlling.
