A member asked:

Persistent cough, difficulty swallowing and eating, trouble sleeping for long periods of time, white tonsils.. is this strep, mono or tonsillitis?

Tonsillitis : No way to tell for sure without you having them be examined/ swabbed but sounds like an infection of some sort. Could be a tonsillitis or pharyngitis. Anything that makes it difficult to swallow is worth having it be examined.

White tonsils: It could be any of those. You need to see your doctor. Do not put it off any longer. Feel better

See doctor: to be checked and diagnosed as any of these are possibilities. Treatment depends on diagnosis.

We can't tell you : the diagnosis without eval. White spots on tonsils & adjacent tissues could be due to fungal infections (Thrush), Epstein-Barr virus ( mononu-cleosis), bacterial infection (strep throat), viral infections, tonsil stones, leukoplakia, herpes infections or oral cancer.
