Thumb ucl tear: Most partial ucl tears will improve after 4-6 weeks of casting/immobilization. If the pain is not improving with time out if the cast the next step is to consider oral anti inflammatories/ice or a cortisone injection if the ligament feels stable clinically. If the ligament still is painful when stressed you may need to consider surgical repair.
