A member asked:

My husband broke his wrist and claim is through federal workman's comp. it's been a month and he's a half cast still. he hasn't been able to find a hand and wrist specialist that takes federal workman's comp. can he switch to a wrist splint for now?

Call the involved insurance carrier and explain the predicament. After about 6 weeks you can usually switch to a splint. Do you know what the 3 week X-Ray showed? Often a 6 week fracture is also done but in simple fractures it may be skipped. Hopefully the insurance company will accept to a non covered physician for cast removal and clearance for switching to a splint& OK physical therapy.
