If the ligament was-: -on the little finger side @ the base of the thumb, known as the ulnar collateral ligament of the metacarpal-phalangeal, it is possible that it was displaced by the injury & when it clicks back into place, the ligament may B blocked from its origin & B trapped behind the adductor muscle preventing it from healing. An exam by MRI will make this diagnosis @ the onset.
