Glaucoma : Glaucoma is generally defined as optic nerve damage (from high eye pressure or other causes), which can lead to changes and decreases in vision (the visual field of vision). Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness.

Visual field : The remaining 15% have some degree of visual field loss. All the way from minimally noticing the loss with routine daily activities to complete blindness ( less than 1%).

Soft statistics: The progression of glaucoma to the point of signficant visual field loss occurs in those who do not get detected as having the disease, and also commonly in those who are prescribed treatment and fail to follow the prescribed directions. A small percentage, less than 15%, have significant, progressive and resistant disease and can lose vision despite the best efforts of the doctor or the patient
