Just repeat the scan: Once your betaHCG level passes 1000 to 1500 mIU/ml, a small seemingly empty gestational sac is the first transvaginal-sonographic finding of a very early pregnancy. The presence of a secondary yolk sac then of a small embryo will soon follow and can be correlated to the levels of betaHCG and to the overall dimensions of the gestational sac. A well timed repeat sonogram will answer your question.
