A member asked:

What does a small spur on an xray typically mean? (l tibial sesamoid pain-- doctor said the spur could be normal). indicative of stress fracture/rxn?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be normal: A spur is a reactive process from a bone. It can be caused by a variety of reasons such as stress on a bone from the pull of a tendon, from trauma and how the bone heals. A spur is usually not found with stress fractures. If there is pain with the sesamoid you may need some offloading or an insert.
