A member asked:

Myelopathy of the spine. does this include any tumor? does the word myelopathy also mean tumor? thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No it does not: Myelopathy of the spinal cord is a result of a process affecting the spinal cord. Myelopathy can affect any part of the spinal cord common cause of myelopathy is disc or bone spurs pressing on the spinal cord resulting in neurologic abnormalities. Inflammatory diseases such as lupus can cause myelopathy. A cancer/tumor could cause a myelopathy but myelopathy does not mean tumor
