A member asked:

Im a 53 yo female diagnosed with c-spine myelopathy. one surgeon is recommending acdf and another is recommending laminaplasty. which is best?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pros and cons: Both procedures are good for treating your primary problem by giving the spinal cord more room. The pros and cons differ. First the ACDF is a fusion and you will loose the movement at the fused disc level and is the most common procedure performed. The laminaplasty (or a simple laminectomy) will free the spinal cord without a fusion.
