Possibly: It will provide a suggestion of enlarged areas of bowel which may be due to obstruction, but this is not the general purpose of the ultrasound.

Family practice: I don't know why they ordered an u/s , probably to look for gallstones. Ct would be better to look for intestinal blockage. See what your dr says.
