Hypothyroidism : TSH is how the brain tells the thyroid what to do. When the TSH is elevated it is trying to make a thyroid produce more thyroid hormone. When the TSH is low, your brain is trying to tell your thyroid to slow down. Your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Please see your primary care provider as you may need to start on replacement thyroid hormone.

See MD for high TSH: There are two glands involved to maintain balance: the pituitary makes TSH and the thyroid makes T3 and T4. When the thyroid hormone is lower in the blood, then the pituitary makes more TSH. This could mean the thyroid is not working properly. If the T3 and T4 are fine, and the pituitary is still producing too much TSH...this could be due to a pituitary problem. You should see an MD/endocrinology.
