You should : See your surgeon. Aside from the pain, I am sure he will want to ensure that the effusion is not infected.

See below: If you can put up with the pain, you'll avoid another penetration into your joint space, with it's inherent rate of infection. If the pain is too bad, you could have the joint drained with a needle (less risk).
