Still not routine: Islet cell transplants are still not a routine procedure - even when they work properly, there just isn't enough available pancreas tissue to go around.Check w/your doctor.

Islet cell: In the US there are no centers performing islet cell transplant, used to be called the Edmonton protocol. If you don't have kidney disease needing kidney transplant, i would talk to your DM Doc about a insulin pump. A conversation with your endocrinologist is needed.
