Ankle swelling: and pain is a very common injury in those who play soccer. Frequently the supporting ankle ligaments are stretched, even injured, with rapid turns and pivots while running....let alone kicking. Elevate your ankle and apply ice (a bag of frozen peas works well) for 15 minutes 3 times a day. Brace for support. Avoid playing if painful. See Doc/Sports Med if persists 5-7 days. Stay well:)

Be seen: If it is persistent and does not respond to a typical RICE ( rest, ice, compression and elevation) program, you might want to be seen just to make sure your injury was not more serious.
