Seal the expose area: If you have a toothache due to tooth fracture, a cavity resulting in a hole, seal the exposed area (temp fills at local pharmacy). Then schedule with your dentist to address the cause of the problem. If the toothache is due to a nerve problem, antibiotic prescribed bwill solve the acute pain then schedule with your dentist to address the cause. Always treat the cause to prevent recurrence.

Depends on cause: It depends on what is causing the toothache. Call a dentist, set up an appointment and when you see the dentist he\she can tell you what is wrong and what needs to be done to eliminate the problem. Things will only get worse without getting it treated.

Toothache Remedy: There are no home remedies or cures for rotten teeth. No magic pills or rinses or mouthwashes. Toothaches need to be treated locally by a dentist, someone who has years of experience treating these conditions. The sooner you call the sooner you will feel better. Please don't delay, the pain may soon be unbearable.

Best solution: Regardless, schedule an appointment to see your dentist, because the tooth pain will not go away without treatment. If the dentist can't be reached and it is a true emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or take Tylenol/Advil for pain control.

Proper Medical Care: If you can't get same-day appt w/your dentist, go to PCP or ER to bridge the time gap. You may have a periapical or periodontal abscess that needs an immediate exam & antibiotics while you are waiting to get in to see your dentist for definitive treatment. Don't blow off the dentist visit if you start to feel better either - the underlying problem will not have resolved. No benzocaine for kids.

Telephone: The best remedy is to call your Dentist for an immediate appointment. Pain is a red flag that something's very wrong. Could be cavity, abscess, fracture, or many other causes. Your Dentist can diagnose the cause and provide the appropriate treatment. If not treated, pain may subside temporarily but then come roaring back. This isn't a DIY project. Beware snake oil claims. Call Dentist NOW!
