Bad Idea: Ok to take the painkillers - take with at least 700ml water or other non-alcoholic beverage. Skip the alcohol or you might vomit and lose the effect of the meds. Be wise and give it a day or 2 before the alcohol. The root canal is the only thing which is going to solve the problem. Follow the post-op instructions. Best of luck.

Not recommended: Taking more than the recommended dose of painkillers, or drinking alcohol, significantly raises the risk of serious problems. A tooth pain or tooth decay won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. See your dentist ASAP.
