Large abscess: I have seen a case like this from 2months ago. The tooth that needs treatment is probably a lower molar with a large abscess. Sometimes the abscess can be large enough to begin to injure a nerve that runs inside your jawbone, giving you some numbness. Keep your appointment or get treated ASAP !!

Call Dentist: Despite antibiotic infection may be worsening. Or perhaps you're having an allergic reaction. May need to have that root canal treatment done sooner than nest week.

Get Treatment Sooner: If your antibiotics aren't working, you need to either 1) switch to another antibiotic, and/or 2) get your root treatment sooner. If your lip is getting numb, that's a clear indication that your dental infection is spreading. You need to change course. If your dentist can't help you, perhaps you can see an endodontist (tooth infection specialist) for a second opinion. Either way, make a change.
