MRI does see orbit: A brain MRI will see the contents of your orbit, although the detail depends on the slice thickness. Some orbital tumors can be small and thick slices can pass above and below the tumor. Generally a tumor in the orbit will push the eye forward (proptosis) and this can be a clue. There are many causes for the pain you report that are not tumor. Best to see an ophthalmologist.
