Cough variant asthma: If you have heart burn that could trigger chronic dry cough which is typically worse at night when you lie down. Other possibility is cough variant asthma , there is usually an association with allergies and post nasal drip ( presents as constant clearing of throat) , treatment of underlying allergies and possibly an inhaler will solve that, talk to your PCP and get a full pulmonary function test.
