By first birthday: Infants should start seeing a pediatric dentist within 6 months of their first tooth erupting. These early visits allow parents to get an important start on preventive dental care that will yield a lifetime of good dental health. They also allow the dentist to make sure everything is healthy and to catch and treat any problems before they get a chance to become more involved.
