Dental visit: Historically, this depended upon who made the recommendations. Pediatricians used to recommend the first dental visit by age 3 whereas dentists recommended age 1. Age 1 does permit early screening for dental and palate issues as well as for cavities, so this earlier age may be reasonable.

1 year: Current recommends esrablishing the dental home in a healthy child at 1 year of age and 6months of age for kids with risk factors, including no Fluoride source, poor family history etc.

AGE 1: New information is suggesting that age 1 is the appropiate time for a childs first exam. Many problems can be detected with early intervention and avoid pain and suffering in small children. New parents are often unaware of the damage that can occur when not properly informed of bottle caries and poor food and drink choices.
