Meditation Starter: If someone wants to start meditating it can be helpful to talk to others who are also doing it - if there is a buddhist temple near you that could help. Sometimes reading a book - I like "Wherever You Go, There You Are" can help. There are also apps like "insight timer" you can get to help you. There are numerous you tube videos on the subject also. Good luck.

Meditation: There are lots of excellent books and online resources to help you get started. A great on-line resource to try is CALM: they offer a range of support and training options including free meditation & mindfulness podcasts http://www.calm.auckland.ac.nz Remember effective meditation takes practice. Be kind to yourself if your thoughts drift, just try again - and again. Good luck!

Meditation resources: Here are a few that I have put together http://emtutorials.com/2013/06/meditation-for-patients/ They are guided meditations mainly from an American doctor Professor Jon Kabbat Zin. This is a good app http://www.1giantmind.org/ I'm 6 days into it myself and I like it. I do recommend joining a group as it is a good way to keep you meditating regularly.

Meditation: There are many different types of meditation for different types of outcomes. It would be good for you to narrow down your goals and then read up on approaches.

Read a small book,: How To Meditate (I think by LeShan). Also, try headspace, an app, or the many other apps on either Apple or Samsung platforms. Consider Zazen, one of the simplest, yet most effective techniques. It's usually free if you go to a Zen center. TM is excellent and has lots of very good research (as does Zazen) but the cost is way too high and the benefits are the same as with Zazen.
