A member asked:

Strong antibiotics lowered platelet count. stopped meds, but still low at times- 96-150k. spleen/cbc normal. can meds permanently damage bone marrow?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and No: Yes many drugs/medicines can affect the bone marrow to varying degrees. Most times this effect is reversible, but sometimes it is long lasting. In your case your platelet count is not all that bad. Any platelet count over 100,000 is fine as the normal level is >150,000. You can recheck them if the count is< 100,000. otherwise check them once every 6 months for 2-3 times to be certain.
