Diverticular dz: Extensive diverticulosis is one of the indications for total colectomy there did you get repeated infections, were you symptomatic with pain, fever , bleeding in stools etc. Removing the colon will still allows you to lead a normal life though initially you will need low residue diet, that means avoiding bulk forming food so that you,initially you have some loose stools but slowly will be adjusted
