I don't know where you live but in genetral you try to find the MOST experienced ankle surgeon that you can find and ask how many of these procedures has he done before. If you are from NYC go to Hospital for Special Surgery. Good luck. Do some research on the net.

Well, it sounds like: you received an accurate diagnosis with an MRI. Your initial therapy was appropriate: rest, immobilization, and physical therapy. This approach is expected to be effective, if it is going to be, within 6-8 weeks. It is a good sign that some of the time you are able to exercise without pain. Continue working with your Podiatrist/Orthopedic Surgeon. Surgery may be your next best option. Good wishes.
