I have done and they gave me allopurinol, but can't take until uric levels have completely back to normal, which is why i would like to know the longest time for a flair up? thanks

Gout: The flare up can last 1-2 week. Depends what treatment you are taking. May settle down in few days if you are taking steroids. some suggest that you should wait for 2 weeks after the flare up has settled. no need for uric acid to be normal- only symptoms should be gone. although the flare up can happen after you have started the allopurinol- it is common but you need to continue medication.
