Typically hr goes up: If u r having chest pain - and hence are in a heightened state of sympathetic system overdrive so to speak - heart rate ought to go up. There are times when heart rate goes down - namely - an inferior wall heart attack and or right ventricle involvement as the artery feeding the electrical connections of heart are compromised. But generally heart rate goes up.
