Colchicine: Cholchicine is not a pain killer per se. It has specific anti-inflammatory effects in the presence of acute gout caused by uric acid crystals within a joint and usually acts within an hour or two. It also may be used in some other inflammatory conditions but won't relieve most painful states.

Helps in gout: especially in acute attack . Steroid injection will give quicker relief, best method is prevention of an attack . Always hydrate well ( drink lots of water all the time I do ! ) avoid alcohol and too much meat , get your uric acid monitored by a physician to avoid systemic damage to your body .
