Possible: Gout can be diagnosed by obtaining fluid from an affected joint and then looking for essentially gout crystals under a microscope. Most patients with gout have excruciating pain, swelling, and warmth, and redness to the joint. Colchicine should not lower the uric acid level. A patient can also have a normal uric acid level but still have gout. I am not sure if you have your answer yet. Good luck
