See details: Febuxostat is not used to treat acute gout but to prevent it by normalizing serum uric acid. If continued during the acute attack it can prolong the attack and actually worsen it. You should not have these breakthrough attacks if the control is done properly.

Gout: Taking meds for their proper indication is key here. You shouldn't have an acute attack lasting this long.
