Cysts have fluid, : A certified experienced sonographer can recognize that an ovarian lesion is cystic by the presence of fluid within the cyst while solid lesions do not have fluids. Some ovarian lesions can be complex and appear as containing combinations of cystic and solid components. Blood within an ovarian lesion may be misleading and confusing : hemolysed blood may appear "cystic"; organized clots look solid.
