A member asked:

Severe inner & outer ear infection. i'm on oral antibiotic & drops. the pain is gone but my ear is so full of fluid. any tips to get it to drain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Takes time: The fluid is trapped in the middle ear space and must exit through the Eustachian tube. This can take up to 3 weeks or so in a routine middle ear infection. Nothing you take or do is likely to speed this up.Antihistamines may actually slow the process.
