Yes: Called white collar syndrome. Report your blood pressure to your doctor when you get it checked away from the office. See how you do after a few readings. I see you are also on Xanax (alprazolam). Be careful of this one. Highly addicting

Not unusual: It's not exactly "typical" though not unusual. This is often called "white coat hypertension." The act of taking blood pressure can raise it; many people get anxious when their BP is taken at a doctor's office. However, it's now thought that if it rises in this situation it probably increases at other times when you're stressed so it's reasonable to treat; propanolol is a good choice.See comment:
