Is it right if my doctor gave me propranolol only having a pheochromocytoma? he insists it's to lower blood pressure but i have read it's not right.

complex condition: A pheo is relatively rare. This adrenal tumor makes adrenaline and noradrenaline, mostly. If you have it, you need surgery, and in the meantime you prob need treatment with both a beta- and alpha-blocker; proproanolol and phenoxybenzamine. You need a specialist. Endocrinology or maybe cardiology.

If you do indeed: Have a pheo (which I have no evidence for or against since i haven't evaluated you) Propranolol alone is not the correct treatment and can be dangerous. Please talk about this with your doctor.

NO!: Administering a beta blocker (propranolol) a patient with a pheochromocytoma without first ensuring adequate Alpha blockade (another drug which dilates the peripheral arteries) can result in heart failure- the heart not being able to pump enough blood to the body. Consider getting a second opinion from a cardiologist or internist. Pheos require surgery to remove them.

Unopposed: Beta blockade not indicated ; potentially dangerous.
