Sensitivity: Sounds like you had Tarter removed, accumulations of plaque (bacteria) that become calcified. To do so requires a professional cleaning, which is a surgical procedure. The greater the damage from plaque/tarter, the more extensive the surgical procedure. Failure to keep area clean may result in even more tissue damage. Take pain killer 1/2 hour before you brush. Call your Dentist for help.

Pain: It sounds like you had more than just plaque removed from your teeth. Your toothbrush will remove the plaque but tarter or calculus takes a dentist or hygienist. Please contact your dentist about your pain problem ASAP. In the meantime OTC pain medication such as ibuprofen can help. Rinse with warm salt water. This will help the tissue heal quicker.

Sensitivity: What you should not do is stop brushing & flossing because it's too sensitive. Make sure you are using a soft bristled brush with warm water and be gentle but thorough. Using a desensitizing tooth paste may help. Call our dentist asap and discuss this issue. He/she may want to see you again to evaluate for other problems and help you maintain proper oral hygiene. Is other dental treatment pending?
