Irritated gum: I'm sorry, "irritated gum" is a description, a symptom, not a diagnosis. Pain and swelling may indicate, among other things, infection, laceration, burn, bone loss, traumatic occlusion, pernicious habit, etc. For an accurate diagnosis, and then an appropriate treatment plan, show the active irritation to your Dentist.
