A member asked:

My fiance has this habit of showing strings of saliva when speaking. he doesnt spit, but those strings are very thick and disgusting. how can they be ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dryness of mucosa: The symptoms is likely due to dryness of the mouth. It may be as simple as the person not drinking enough water. Advise him to drink enough water daily so that his urine is colorless. If that does not help it would be prudent to consult a doctor to evaluate for disorders causing dry mouth, xerostomia.
