Balance: Likely the balance of the mucous and serous salivary glands. You have both and each produces a certain amount of thin or thicker saliva. Do you regularly use a strong mouthwash or toothpaste with many "benefits" resulting in more additives ? Any medications which might dry the mouth or alter the salivary flow ? I recommend that you see the Oral Surgeon for testing of the salivary glands. Good Luck

GERD, see your PCP: Your symptoms sound a lot like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and visit to your PCP is warranted.
