A member asked:

Is it necessary to have an endoscopic peg tube replacement surgery in the er then to have it done at the doctor's office?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Occasionally: We only "change" the tubes if a problem such as a tear with leak or blockage that we can't dislodge occur. It's rare to change tubes just because someone decides to do it. It may be that the ER decided to put in a Foley catheter which is designed for the bladder and they decided to replace that with a real PEG tube designed for that purpose.
