A VERY GOOD: QUESTION!! At a certain point in severe COPD the low Oxygen level is the ONLY stimulus to BREATHING ( the addition of Oxygen can result in apnea (lack of breathing and ultimately DEATH!) Therefore usually the supplemental tank will not contain PURE Oxygen! His PULMONOLOGIST is the person who should deal with this issue!! Hope this helps! Dr Z
