A member asked:

I have a large lipoma on my upper left arm and the plastic surgeon wants to remove it with local anesthesia? can this be done without pain or risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low risk: This is usually a pretty straightforward procedure. There could be some pain afterwards that should be easily controlled with OTC pain Meds. Sometimes there can be some skin numbness from superficial nerves being cut during the procedure. Localized skin infection is a possibility with any invasive procedure but overall the risks are very low.
