A member asked:

Dentist told me i have an under or overbite (can't remember). i'm 20, can i correct this without surgery? some kind of restraint maybe?

Depends: Depends on severity as to whether surgery necessary. At 20 you have stopped growing, so "restraint" would be ineffective. Ask your dentist to refer you to an orthodontic specialist for evaluation. There are multiple treatment options depending upon your individualized set of circumstances.

Depends: The ability to correct an under/overbite without surgery is very dependent on the position and size of your teeth, the relationship of the upper molars to the lower molars, and the amount and quality of your bone and gum tissue. Severe over/underbites most likely will need surgery or tooth extractions to complete the case well.
