A member asked:

My doctor prescribed restoril to,help me sleep and calm, but know i have xanax, (alprazolam) is there much of a difference . please. thank you ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much: Restoril and Xanax (alprazolam) are both benzodiazapines. The xanax (alprazolam) has a shorter half life so when used for sleep it may not last as long as the restoril. Please know that both of these drugs are extremely addictive. They should only be used occasionally. Regular use can result in severe disruption of normal sleep patterns and dangerous withdrawal syndromes.
