Aggravated/workout: This area is an attachment point for the muscles of your upper leg. During growth it can go through a phase where it is soft and prone to the shearing effects of your muscle contractions. It is aggravated by your workouts as they pull the muscle tight and tug on this anchor point. Anti Inflammatories like naproxen (Aleve) and Ibuprofen can help but some have to stop workouts to stop the pain
