Blood Flow: Increased pressure will cause decreased blood flow, for an instant, to make the gingiva appear whiter. Your gums may be inflamed, so see a dentist for an evaluation.

Blanching: If you gently touch or press on your gums you cause the blood in the surface capillaries to be expressed from the tissues, causing the tissues to blanch (turn white). When you release the pressure the capillaries rapidly refill, returning your gums to their normal healthy salmon pink color. The gums next to the teeth should be stippled (like an orange peel), not shine. See your Dentist to ck.
