Probably not, but...: You state that you are exposing yourself to several hours per day of fumes which irritate your lungs. Known carcinogens are tobacco smoke, both active and passive, and radioactive gas (radon) in a tightly sealed basement. Best single thing you can do for yourself is to stop smoking and avoid people who do!
