A member asked:

How accurate is a sinus culture performed by an ent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unclear question: ENT surgeon may have collected the sample from the sinus, the culture is done by a laboratory. Culture process will identify the microorganisms that will grow. Not all microorganisms in the body and environment grow in artificial media. Sinus infections often have a mixed flora and it may not clear as to which organism is the offending species.
