Facial flushing: can be caused by some chemicals and foods that cause a histamine release and tyramine rich foods. Common foods include spicy foods, alcohol, and sometimes garlic and onions and reportedly MSG, a common food additive. "Niacin flush" has been reported with large doses of niacin. Emotional states of embarrassment, anxiety, etc. can be triggers and rarely a condition called carcinoid syndrome.
